St. Johns of Mayville

St. John's School Staff

Mr. Doug Mageski

Principal

(920) 387-4310

It is a blessing to be called back to serve at this very tight-knit school. My experiences with this school have renewed my faith and desire to continue the work of the Holy Spirit by sharing the Gospel with all His children and having the privilege of overseeing the development of my students’ mind, body, and spirit. I currently live in the town of Hartford with my wife, Chelsey Mageski, my four beautiful children; Elijah, who is 12 years old, Aubree, who is 10 years old, Sophia, who is 8 years old, Camden, who is just turning 4, and our dogs Socks and Buddy.  I graduated December of 2013 Summa Cum Laude from Concordia University Wisconsin and quickly started teaching 4th grade at Green Tree Elementary School in West Bend, WI. This will be my eleventh year at St. Johns. My wife is a nurse practitioner with a love and passion for helping people. In our free time we love to go fishing, spend time hiking, visit the zoo, and go on road trips. I also have to admit that my household cheers for the Vikings on Sundays!

I am honored to lead SJLS as its principal and look forward to building relationships with all of our students and families.

“Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity and dignity.” Titus 2:7

Mrs. Brooke Krueger

Administrative Assistant

(920) 387-4310

I am so blessed to be continuing my journey here at St. John’s Lutheran School.  This will be my 10th year here at St. John’s.  For the first 5 years I was the 4K teacher aide, the year following that I was the custodian and now I am the administrative assistant, this is my 4th year in this position and I just love the variety of things I get to encounter.  St. John’s has definitely helped me grow in many ways.  I smile as I look back at my journey throughout the years and owe thanks to God for leading me down this path of such a blessed life.

My husband, Paul and I have been married for 20 years and we have 3 kids, Sam (18), Olivia (17) and Emily (13). We also have 1 pet, Koda, our puppers. We have had quite the journey, I grew up in Arizona lived there for 28 years, then moved to Colorado, lived there for about a year and moved to Wisconsin where we are here to stay. I just love the midwest vibe, the seasons (yes all the seasons), and all the greenery!  In my free time I love to just spend time with my family, whether it is hanging out at our family’s cabin, utving, paddleboarding, watching movies, playing board games, hiking, and going on adventures exploring this great state of Wisconsin.

My favorite bible verse is “Be still and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10. This is a sweet, simple, yet powerful verse to me.  When there is so much commotion going on in life, no matter what that may be, I always think of this verse and say to myself it’s okay to take a breath, a step back, or even chill.  I know God has complete control over anything and everything. I just have to be still.  What a powerful, peace filled verse with only 8 words.

Ms. Mikalah Hess

8th Grade Homeroom teacher

Hello,

I feel blessed to be welcomed back this year to St. John’s as the new 8th grade homeroom teacher! This will be my 4th year teaching and my second year at St. John’s. Previously I taught 1st grade, preschool and last year at St. John’s I taught 4K/PE. Being able to teach middle school students last year in PE allowed me to spread my wings and connect with middle school students that I had previously not been able to. I am excited to be teaching in my favorite content area of math. I went to Slinger High School, attended UW-Whitewater and have a bachelors degree in Regular education and a minor in special education. I am blessed to be getting married in November to my fiance Connor and to have two adorable puppies, Harper and Lorelai! Outside of school I enjoy the outdoors camping, kayaking and hiking. I also love to bake and read.

Mrs. Melissa Travis

7th grade Homeroom teacher

Hello!  So I grew up in Fort Dodge, Iowa.  I graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. in Community Health Education and added my elementary teaching license at Buena Vista University.  I have been teaching middle school science for a long time!  I started teaching at St. John’s in 2015.  I teach 5th-8th grade science, 5th-8th grade health, and electives.  Previously, I taught 7th grade science in Newton, Iowa.  I love spending my time outside of school with my family – Cole is working for the Washington Nationals out in D.C. as an assistant manager of ticket operations, Connor is a senior at Iowa State University majoring in psychology, and Claire is a senior in high school keeping busy with sports and music.  They keep me on my toes!  My husband, Scott, works at TruStage in Madison as a treasury manager.  In my free time, I enjoy playing with my two dogs, scrapbooking, reading, fishing, and watching movies.

My favorite Bible verse is Hebrews 13:16: “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”  I hope that my work is pleasing to God as I am blessed to be teaching here at St. John’s in Mayville.
