The Altar Guild is responsible for the care of the altar area of the church, the candles, the paraments, the banners, the baptismal font, and the Pastor’s robes and stolls and Acolyte robes (purchase and clean). We decorate for Easter, Thanksgiving and adorn the altar with flowers at Ascension, Thanksgiving, Reformation and any special occasions. We help serve Lenten Meals, Advent Meals, Mission Festival and other special occasions.  We help confirmands get ready for their pictures, and we have Spiritual gifts for purchase in the church office. 8th grade girls experience Altar Guild along with their Confirmation Class annually.  If you are interested in serving on the Altar Guild Ministry, please call Wendy Wellnitz at 583-3460.

Each person serves once every nine weeks. We have two meetings a year, February and November (potluck). We set-up and clean-up for: 70+ communions, 10+ baptisms a year, and currently have 50+ members.

Dart Ball League

The Dart ball team is a group of people who get together on Wednesday evenings for fun and fellowship. The games are 100% handicapped so teams of any skill level have an equal chance of winning. The league is co-ed and open to all confirmed Lutherans.

Dorcas Society

The primary mission of the Dorcas Society is to provide aid and promote the charitable and mission work of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. Meetings are held the second Thursday of each month, September through May. Every other month, devotion is shared with the group and our “mites” are collected for mission distribution. “Shut-ins” are visited throughout the year by members of the Dorcas Society and the “Sunshine girl” sends out cards of hope and caring wishes to members of the congregation. Members assist with preparing and serving food for funerals, Advent and Lenten dinners and for other various needs of the congregation. While the society collects dues from members, the dues are used to fund a different mission project every month year round.  The members of the society vote on projects to support for each year. All confirmed women of the congregation are invited to join the Dorcas Society for monthly meeting and activities and join the our services to the Lord. The LWML – Lutheran Women’s Missionary League is an organization for women of the church body who provide services in honor of their Lord. All women of St. John’s Lutheran Church and School, who volunteer their talents, time and service, are part of this very important mission team.

All confirmed women of the congregation are invited to join the Dorcas Society for monthly meetings and activities and to join in our service to the Lord. Contact Heidi Weiss at  920-387-3558 for more information.

Prayer Chain

The Prayer Chain is made up of over 100 caring church members who are willing to pray for anyone who is in need of a God’s help. We have comforted many people with our prayers. It is always reassuring to know others are praying for you in your time of need, and God has performed many miracles right here at St. John’s.

An e-mail is sent to our members and we pray for the person(s). (some of our members pass on the prayer request to one person who wishes to help but does not have e-mail). No e-mail address is revealed to the other members. No request is too small, and, if requested, names or illness are not listed.

Quilters’ Group

The Quilters’ Group begins around the middle of September til May on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30am-11:00am, in St. John’s Fellowship Hall. We are always looking form more to share in our quilting fellowship. (If you can tie your shoelaces, we can use your time and talents). Donations always accepted of: bed sheets, blankets, mattress pads, pillow cases, material, thread, rick rack and bias tape.

Ushering Ministry

Usher duties include being at church before the service to hand out bulletins and large print worship booklets. Ring bells at the beginning of church service and during the Lord’s Prayer. For a communion service, ushers inform Elder on duty/Pastors if anyone wanting communion in the pew. Count worshipers during service and collect offering. Assist in communion services by ushering people to the Lord’s Table. Also usher worshipers out of church at the end of every service. After the service, hymnals and Bibles need to be arranged in pew racks, change hymn boards for next service if needed, shut off lights and lock doors. New ushers are always needed. Please call the church office to be placed on a team.

Video Ministry

The St. John’s Video service is done weekly by volunteers who video either a Saturday worship service or one of the two Sunday Worship services. Special services such as the Children’s Christmas Programs are also taped. The Video Ministry welcomes all volunteers.

Co-Ed Volleyball League

Games are played on Sunday nights in the school gym.
